The Keys pulled off a 2-1 win over the Salem Red Sox after Frederick was no-hit the night before.  Zach Davies, who started and pitched five innings for Frederick, gave up just one run on three hits and struck out seven batters.  Sammie Starr, who has been in a slump lately batting just .169 in the second half of the season, came up big in the eighth inning last night with an RBI single to put the Keys ahead 2-1.  He also had multiple great defensive plays last night as well.

With two games in the scorebooks and two games to play in this series, the Keys are hoping to take this four-game set away from Salem who is 15-12 in the second half of the season.

Zach Clark will start tonight for the Keys.  He is currently 0-1 in the Carolina League this season with a 21.60 ERA. He is hoping to find a little more success than  his first start with Frederick this season in which he gave up eight runs in just a little of three innings.

*Tonight is Christmas Night In July here at Harry Grove Stadium and it is safe to say that the interns are really in the Christmas spirit.

*Jeff Kurkjian, an intern here at Harry Grove Stadium, also interns with The Sports Junkies in the mornings on 106.7 The Fan. One of the Junkies, Eric Bickel, visited yesterday’s  game to take photos and was fascinated by the minor league atmosphere. Jeff was brought into the show to talk about the Frederick Keys baseball team.
