Sounds from Tuesday Night in Winston-Salem

Doubleheaders have been unkind to the Keys in 2013. Following the Winston-Salem sweep of the Keys last night, Frederick is now 2-6 on the season in double dips

On a positive note, Jerome Pena belted his fifth home run of the season in the sixth inning of game one.

In game two, LHP Trent Howard tossed four scoreless innings in his second start of the season. Howard has allowed just one earned run in six appearances (one start) away from Harry Grove Stadium. Out of the bullpen this season, the former Central Michigan Chippewa is 3-0 with one save and an ERA of 0.84.

Prior to Tuesday night’s doubleheader in the Tar Heel State, Keys broadcaster Adam Pohl sat down with Keys closer Marcel Prado.

With just 20 games left in the first half of the season, the Keys are 26-24 and are 1.5 games behind the Lynchburg Hillcats for first place in the Northern Division of the Carolina League.

In case you missed it, in Edition 7 of “Mike’d Up,” Keys PR Assistant Mike Mueller looked at the unlikely rise to Frederick by LHP Tim Berry.
